Chargebox Identity (CBID)

« Back to Glossary Index

The Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) standard designates an identifier for each charge box called CBID (“Chargebox Identity”). The CBID ensures that each charging station is unique within a charge point management system (CPMS) .

If communication takes place via websocket, the CBID is therefore even part of the WS address. So no communication to the backend can be established without the CBID being known.
